Intellectual Disabilities (ID) “Tootsie Roll Drive” Sept. 21-23

Put on your most comfortable shoes Sept. 21-23. The annual Tootsie Roll Drive is upon us!

The annual fund drive benefits citizens with intellectual disabilities.  Please consider participating in this extremely worthwhile event. The amount that we collect is a direct function of how many Knights participate: the more participation, the greater the collection. It’s as simple as that! The schedule is as follows:

  • Fri., Sept. 21: 6:30 AM-7:00 PM
  • Sat., Sept. 22: 7:30 AM–3:00 PM
  • Sun., Sept. 23: After 8:00 & 10:00 AM Masses

This year we are committed to staffing 10 Warrenville intersections and 5 local business locations Friday & Saturday. In order to be successful we will need Brother Knight’s assistance collecting donations at the intersections and business locations and/or helping with support tasks at the St. Irene’s ACL.

One of our most charitable works is the funding of homes for citizens with ID. Last year the gross proceeds were $8,408. Of this we awarded:

  • Illinois State Council Charities Inc. for Disability Homes—$841
  • Cupertino Home, Warrenville—$4761
  • Special Camps—Colleen McDonald—$1000
  • Western DuPage Special Recreation Area—$1000
  • Diocese of Joliet Life Office—$25

The only deduction was the cost of the Tootsie Rolls of $780.
