April 13—Knights of Columbus Easter Party for Special Needs Citizens

     The Easter party at the DuPage County Fairgrounds was a huge success last year with 280 guests in attendance, both special needs guests and family members. I am hoping to repeat the event, if you and your council would find it worthy of repeating and able to assist. Our families were so very grateful. Only this year I’d like to open it up to more local families.

  • Date: Saturday, April 13
  • Time: 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM (though I know we’ll need you early in the day to set up all the food and get the grill ready.

Sponsors:

  • St. Irene Council—Provide bottled water, a tractor to pull (and someone to drive it… or Dave can drive again). The fairgrounds should have a hayrack to borrow. The Council is donating $250.
  • Winfield Council—To grill meat and keep food warm along with a cash donation. Last year contributed $250.
  • St Dan’s Wheaton Council—Once again organize all the food, food volunteers and let the Knights or me know what you need.

* All:

  • Provide as many volunteers as you can to man the grills, the hayride, the Easter Egg hunt, provide wives to help with crafts, and invite your youth groups to help serve our guests.
  • If anyone has access to additional critters (bunnies, petting zoo style- farm animals like bunnies, goats, chickens, sheep, llama, kangaroo), please let me know. I’d love to have a larger petting zoo.
