September—Council Knights to Conduct an In-Person and a Virtual Tootsie Roll Drive

In-Person Drive September 17-19—Obtaining the permit from the City of Warrenville for an in-person on the street ID is in process, albeit delayed because of COVID restrictions uncertainties.  The anticipation is that the Knights will again be able to solicit donations on the street corners in Warrenville.  Street collections will take place September 17-19.

Virtual GoFundeMe Drive September-October—The Council will also set-up a GoFundMe page in order to add to our goal.  The success of the virtual drive in 2020 has prompted us to do the same this year.    The virtual drive is targeted to be conducted within the Warrenville Community during the months of September and October.

Our goal is $7800—We are seeking your input for the 2021 drives.  Please contact, Nick Battaglia, Tootsie Roll Chair at  773-820-1752 or PGK James Halama at 630-433-6240 if you have ideas as to how we can get the word out, especially about the GoFundMe virtual drive.  More details will be published in the September newsletter.

History—Through our drive, we support the Special Olympics which was the original recipient of the funds when first established in 1970 by the Knights of Columbus in Tinley Park, Illinois. Since that time, the drive has grown substantially. The drive is now conducted across 44 states. Our Council also helps to financially assist Cupertino Home (a Clarewoods Academy group home on Warren Ave., Warrenville), Special Camps for Special Citizens, Western DuPage Special Recreation District, and Illinois Knights of Columbus Charities, Inc.
