Teen Volunteers are needed
We need your help! Special Camps needs to find 30 teenagers to serve as camp counselors! Volunteers serve as a best friend, counselor and coach to people with intellectual disabilities; participate in horseback riding, grooming and paint, crafts, archery, field games, wood working, drumming, yoga, music, talent shows, swimming and so much more alongside of the campers you come to serve. Returning camp counselors have called this a “life changing opportunity” to live, play and learn from the amazing campers they come to serve, that they look forward to returning to all year long.
We are so grateful for everyone’s support of Special Camps, the all volunteer, week long overnight camps for kids and adults with intellectual disabilities. With the help of Knights and their family members have served as board members, volunteer staff, nurses, teen camp counselors and special needs campers. With your support, we are eagerly looking forward to serving another 200 campers this June.
Weeks are June 5 – 10, June 12 – 17, and June 19 – 24. The location is White Pines Ranch in Oregon, IL (1/2 hour West of DeKalb). You would stay there for the week. The cost is free. A great way to earn 100 service hours.
